The Mayor of Ashfield, Councillor Lucille McKenna OAM, officially opened a new public car park at 2A Brown Street, Ashfield.
“The car park with 84 car parking spaces, with free three hour parking right in the heart of Ashfield town centre is a great win for our community,” Mayor McKenna said.
The car park also features modern electronic signage that clearly indicates the number of parking spaces available; disabled car parking spaces, disabled access via passenger lifts, and two car share locations.
Other community benefits that were negotiated as part of the Brown Street development include an external passenger lift to activate Drakes Lane with Brown Street, extensive road and footpath improvements, a new bus shelter further down Brown Street, as well as a designated location to be used for public art purposes. Safety will also be increased thanks to the continued use of security cameras around the premises.
